I love the idea that Kickstarter helps creators build communities “upstream”—before the product emerges—and that the value of the story behind the story making isn’t lost behind a veil. As a writer, game designer I’ve learned a great deal from following projects in fields or media that are new to me—film and app, especially. It’s like an apprenticeship in some ways. The crumbling of the fourth wall is the real revolution here—and a big reason I’m drawn to the transmedia movement, where interactivity and audience participation have no boundaries. Great panel. I love the terms “chain of enthusiasm” (the goal of publishing) and “full body learning” (kids who fully engage and immerse themselves in apps).
